Spring 2 - 2024/25
English: Writing
Our first genre focus will be Play Scripts. Through this we will demonstrate that we can write effectively for a range of purposes and audiences, selecting language that shows good awareness of the reader. Our knowledge of the features of a play script and formality changes between scene setting, narrative and character voice will be developed. We will also explore how a character's thoughts and feelings can be conveyed through what they say and what they do.
The main areas of focus for our non-narrative writing will be a Non-Chronological report on a mythical creature. We will be selecting a formal language that shows good awareness of the reader and using a range of devices to build cohesion within and across a paragraph - we will also use higher order connective phrases. In addition to this, a range of sentence structures and formal language will be developed.
